There is a Suzuki for every taste, every budget and every road at this year’s Festival of Motoring.
The Festival of Motoring (FOM) is scheduled for 30 August to 1 September at the Kyalami International Grand Prix Circuit in Midrand, Gauteng. This year, Suzuki will have vehicles on display, and available for test drives, at every single display zone across the sprawling Kyalami complex.
According to the organisers, the 2024 Festival of Motoring will have several colour-coded zones, where enthusiasts can view the cars and motorcycles on display (Green), ride along in vehicles on the challenging off-road track (Blue), experience the vehicles firsthand and with trained drivers on the main track and the handling track (Yellow) and enjoy some refreshments and entertainment.
“Suzuki Auto and Suzuki Motorcycles have supported the FOM from its inception. We feel that the organisers’ aim of making the cars and bikes accessible to view and even to ride or drive is perfectly aligned with our aim of making mobility, fun and adventure accessible to all,” says Brendon Carpenter, Brand Marketing Manager of Suzuki Auto.
Suzuki has planned no less than five large stands at the FOM. Its main hub will be in the Main Pits, where it has booked a large display area. Here, the company will showcase some of its newest models, including the Grand Vitara, the Suzuki Jimny 5-door, the XL6 and the Fronx.
It is here that visitors can register for a track drive with a professional driver in one of the Suzuki models on hand, including the giant-slaying Suzuki Swift Sport that is king of its class at the Simola Hill Climb.
A very special model will also be on display in the Main Pits – the all-new Suzuki Swift. This model will be launched in the near future, and it is brand new from rubber to roof, with a sporty new design, new engine and safety features never before offered as standard in this class of compact vehicles.
A short walk from the main pits will be the Upper Pit display area. Suzuki has created a unique Swift Zone, which celebrates Swift models throughout its various generations. Visitors will be able to walk through the history of the Suzuki Swift and see how it finds form in the design of the all-new Swift.
Suzuki Motorcycles has a display area close by, with all of its newest models on show. The models will include the all-new Suzuki GSX-S1000 GX, which made its debut at the Simola Hill Climb.
The new GSX-S1000 GX is a semi-naked Extreme Sport crossover bike with an engine derived from the powerful GSX-R1000 Super Sports motorcycle. This model is jam-packed with Suzuki’s advanced electronic features, including ride-by-wire throttle, a motion-tracking braking system and Active Damping Control.
From the pits to the Yellow Zone, which will host the handling track and display platforms. Suzuki has a special self-drive section here that will allow enthusiasts to drive the Suzuki of their choice around a special handling track.
“Not only will visitors be able to see a wide range of Suzuki vehicles on display, but they will also have the opportunity to drive a selection of Suzuki cars and get to experience exciting Suzuki models first-hand,” says Carpenter.
The same can certainly be said for the thousands of off-road fans that have converted to the Suzuki Jimny.
At this year’s FOM, Suzuki will have both the three-door and five-door Suzuki Jimny on display, with ample opportunity to experience it on the off-road course in the Blue Zone.
“There is no event that can match the fun and eye candy of the FOM. If you are in Gauteng and have time to spare, we invite you to Kyalami to come and experience this wonderful world of cars and bikes. And don’t forget to pop in to one of our stands, everyone is welcome!”
