New AlternativesSadly, you can’t always get what you want. The COVID-19 pandemic and now the situation in Europe have both conspired to disrupt manufacturing and supply chains across the world, meaning there could be delays on some vehicle model derivatives.

For new car buyers who have gone through the process of looking, checking, and reading up on the various models and derivatives on offer before deciding on their dream car, being told at the dealership there is a stock shortage or delay in that specific variant coming in, is nothing short of heartbreaking.

However, if waiting is not an option, there are new alternatives.

Given the global circumstances, it is probably a good move to examine the alternatives right from the start.

All car buyers have a list of non-negotiable standard features they want in the car they will eventually buy and these, more often than not, include:

  •       Bluetooth audio
  •       Apple CarPlay / Android Auto
  •       Infotainment system
  •       Anti-lock brakes
  •       Minimum of two front airbags
  •       Reach, rake, and height-adjustable driver’s seat
  •       Rear Park assist/reverse camera
  •       USB port(s)

These features along with things such as leather seats, LED headlights, Traction Control, Lane Keeping Assist and the like are all available, depending on the price point of the buyer.

However, across the various model ranges on offer by an automaker (e.g. Vitara Brezza, Celerio, Ignis) there are various grade specifications applied to the variants to those models and these tend to remain standard across the board.

It is important that buyers start to expand their vehicle searches to try and mitigate any supply circumstances that are totally beyond their control.

Global supply chain disruptions mean some models are in short supply. However, there are alternatives if you do some careful comparisons.
